I am
convinced that Super User accounts are operating on many sites. As well as being
able to view all players cards I believe that many
are also able to preview the next 5 cards to be dealt by the number generator before they are
actually dealt. Then either a computer generated player or an individual decides whether to play the hand and
how aggressively to play it.
Imagine that. Could this be the reason for
some of those crazy all-ins or calls with no hand only for them to hit runner-runner for a set, straight
or flush.
If you consider for a moment that Super
Users may be playing on some tables then many of the crazy moves that always seem to pay off for some
players suddenly start to make sense. They appear to have a psychic ability for knowing when they
will hit their hands and how strong or weak your hand is. But if they can see your cards and
preview the cards before they are dealt then they are in complete control. They have a licence to make
money, or should I say steal money.
Obviously not all crazy, loose or aggressive play is a Super User at
work. But I
believe that they are operating on most sites and that if you play regularly,
then in my opinion, you will fall victim to them.
Hitting a golden run of big hands happens to us all
occasionally. But it is rare for it to happen
consistently for hour after hour. So when you see a player persistently calling
or raising with weak hands, and consistently winning at showdown, there are
three possibilities:
1. They are exceptionally
lucky.
2. They are
psychic.
3. They are a Super
User.
Statistically, you can call or raise with
any two cards and occasionally you will win a big pot, but the key word here is occasionally. More often than
not you will lose the hand and waste chips, especially if you miss the flop and continue in the hand. So players
who continually call and raise with weak hands and consistently hit big hands or the
miracle river card may have more than just luck on their
side.
Remember, for most honest mortals
luck has a nasty habit of turning.
A Super User will
play a lot of pots because they can see your cards and some can even
see what cards are coming next. They know when you have a strong hand, when you are
bluffing and when you will fold to a large bet or all-in. They also know when they need to fold pre-flop
because other players have AA, KK or will hit sets and straights etc.
However, they will deliberately lose some
pots. Many poker sites have security staff watching for suspicious play and although they won't admit it,
they are aware that Super Users exist. Unless the security staff are in
on the scam, which I doubt, Super Users know they have to be careful
now.
Put yourself in a Super Users shoes for a
moment. You can see all cards and/or preview cards before they are dealt. You are in total control and can, if
you are not too impatient, make a substantial amount of money without drawing suspicion on yourself.
So lots of big pots won with weak hands would have to be balanced by
some small losses and folds to prevent or reduce suspicion. Even the occasional all-in loss to a smaller stack
can be recovered very quickly.
If a complaint is made to the Poker site
then staff can highlight hands where the suspect lost. So beware, losing a hand is not proof of honesty just as
winning a hand is not proof of dishonesty.
As I mentioned earlier, I do not label every crazy or lucky
player as a Super User. Anyone who plays a lot of poker online will witness many crazy moves by genuine players
that make no sense. It takes more than a few crazy moves that get lucky before I would even begin to suspect
them.
I once played against a player who was
raising, re raising or going all-in nearly every hand. Other players were folding most of the time or we
lost when we called. This went on for a while. Then I hit a set and he lost a lot of chips to me when
he called me down with nothing. When I queried the hand he had
played he explained that he had been diagnosed with a particular aggressive
form of cancer and had little time left. Chips or money meant nothing to him. He seemed to know a great deal
about the particular cancer (I googled the terms he used) so on balance I believe he was telling the truth.
When another player suggested he cash out and give the money to his relatives he stated that his Ex wife had already taken
most of his money but she wasn't getting the rest. Within a few hands he finished giving away his
chips and left the table.
The point being that there can be many
innocent explanations for crazy play. Alcohol is one, it is a negative influence that can seriously effect a
players judgement. Temporary paranoia is another, sometimes when a player has been bluffed a few times in a row
and is shown the bluff they start to see every bet thereafter as another bluff. There is the old enemy
known as tilt and even an occasional miss click.
So, we know that there can be
many causes for an individual to play crazy, illogical poker that ignores the odds and statistically a few of
them will get lucky. These players should not be a threat to good disciplined players as the majority of them
will lose chips in the long run. They are a world apart from players who systematically play weak
hands all the way to the river often raising with nothing only to hit
runner-runner for sets, straights, flushes etc. with an incredible frequency that goes way beyond the boundaries of
good luck.
Imagine how your game would change if you
knew what cards were coming next.
